What is Moissanite?

Moissanite came from the stars. In 1893, French scientist Henri Moissan discovered beautiful a natural moissanite inside a meteor crater, who later won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work. Natural moissanite is extremely rare, and most moissanite used in jewelry today is created through a laboratory process.

Over time, lab-created moissanite was developed from the same material. Moissanite is a gemstone composed of silicon carbide (SiC). It is perfect for all occassions jewelry as it is highly durable, extremely beautiful, and both sustainable and eco-friendly

Why Choose Moissanite?

Moissanite is extremely clear, sparkly and virtually flawless, all at a very reasonable price. It is superior to diamonds in terms of brilliance and sparkle, and is the second-hardest gemstone in the world. This makes it perfectly durable for everyday wear and can be passed down through generations.

Moissanite is truly the best fit for your modern love story.

There are several reasons why individuals might choose moissanite over other gemstones, particularly diamonds. Here are some common reasons:

1. Affordability: Moissanite is generally more affordable than diamonds. For those on a budget, choosing moissanite allows them to have a larger and more visually striking gemstone for a fraction of the cost of a diamond.

2. Brilliance and Sparkle: Moissanite has a high refractive index, which means it exhibits great brilliance and sparkle. Some people prefer the intense sparkle of moissanite over other gemstones.

3. Hardness: Moissanite is a very hard substance, ranking 9.25 on the Mohs scale. This makes it a durable option for everyday wear in jewelry. While diamonds are the only gemstone harder than moissanite, they still perform well in terms of scratch resistance.

4. Ethical and Environmental Considerations: Lab-created moissanite doesn't involve the environmental and ethical concerns associated with some diamond mining practices. For individuals who prioritize sustainability and ethical sourcing, moissanite can be a more appealing option.

5. Color Options: While natural moissanite is typically colorless, it can also be found in various colors, including yellow, green, blue, and brown. This provides buyers with more options to choose a stone that suits their preferences.

6. Uniqueness: Some individuals appreciate the uniqueness of moissanite as a gemstone. Its rarity in nature and its fascinating origin story contribute to its appeal for those looking for something distinctive.

7. Size and Presence: Because moissanite is more affordable than diamonds, individuals can opt for larger stones without breaking the bank. This can result in a more substantial and eye-catching piece of jewelry.

Even to highly experienced jewelers, it can be very challenging to tell the difference without the use of specialized equipment. We have visited several jewelers who were surprised to learn that our moissanites were not actually diamonds. Only upon inspecting our stones closely, in specific lighting and with a magnifier, could they tell that they were not diamonds.

Our moissanite is expertly cut by artisans with over 15 years of experience. The result is a beautiful, sparkly and clear stone. In reality, most people would not be able to tell our moissanite apart from a diamond.

To get the most diamond-like look, we highly recommend you choose our classic round moissanite. It comes in a hearts & arrows cut, expertly cut to sparkle and shine very similarly to a diamond.

It is beautiful!
